On account of Covid-induced restrictions, the doors of Agra’s Taj Mahal have been shut to those wishing to offer namaz at the royal mosque on Eid for two years running now.

On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday, Muslims living in Agra’s Taj Ganj area reached the gates of Taj Mahal to offer namaz at the royal mosque. However, they were not allowed to enter the monument as it has been closed by the Union Ministry of Culture due to the second wave of Covid-19.

Every year, on Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha, Muslims from all over the city arrive at Taj Mahal to offer namaz at the royal mosque of the monument. However, this has not happened for two years running now as a result of the pandemic.
