Uttarakhand: Trivendra Singh Rawat seeks resumption of Chardham Yatra and tourism in phased manner

New Delhi: BJP leader Trivendra Singh Rawat has written a letter to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat for the resumption of Chardham Yatra, tourism and related activities in the state in a phased manner.

In a letter to the CM, Rawat said that people working in the hospitality sector must be vaccinated before the sector is opened.

He further said that with the opening of the tourism sector, people who earn their livelihood from it will benefit and the state will earn revenue as well.

This request from the former CM comes after Haridwar Kumbh Mela turned into a super spreader event with several devotees getting infected with COVID-19. 

The opposition and experts had termed Kumbh Mela and election rallies as two super spreader events that contributed to the second wave of COVID-19 cases in the country.
