JOHANNESBURG – Tourism Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane says miscommunication and fear led to some countries imposing a travel ban on South Africa.

This means the COVID-19 pandemic has hit the tourism sector hard.

The Minister says they will be engaging with the countries in question.

Kubayi-Ngubane said, “we’ve literally started working on international markets, that is currently one of the areas where the numbers are not what we want to see. The variant, a miscommunication led to where we are because of fear and not understanding how we are managing the pandemic led to closing South Africans out.”
