Travel for home health aides still a struggle – Long Island Business News

A nonprofit that advocates for home health aides is calling on elected officials to address public transportation shortages and fund training to advance the delivery of care for homebound older adults.

Toward this end, the Massapequa-based nonprofit All Things Home Care launched a new “Adopt a Senior” initiative. The effort aims to raise money to subsidize costly transportation costs for home health aides so that they can easily get to and from work.

The organization is also calling on elected officials to enact legislation that would fund job training for home health aides.
