Travel industry leaders say they’ve been left out in the cold by roadmap

Leading figures in the region’s travel industry have called for more clarity on foreign travel – saying they’ve been left out in the cold.

Boris Johnson’s lockdown announcement earlier this week means many non-essential businesses can re-open from Monday.

But confirmation of whether non-essential foreign travel will resume from May 17 as planned was a notable absence.

East Midlands Airport, which welcomed almost five million passengers in 2019, said clarity was needed to protect the jobs of over one million people who work in the industry.
